Amar Chadha-Patel will make his professional stage debut in the world premiere of Foal by Titas Halder at Finborough Theatre.

The new one-man play opens on 8 May, with previews from 5 May, and runs until 30 May 2026.

Chadha-Patel, known for roles in The Decameron, Willow and The Wheel of Time, will be directed by Annie Kershaw in the production.

Written by Donmar Warehouse Associate Artistic Director Titas Halder, Foal is described as an exhilarating fever dream and a revenge thriller set in the era of the Sony Walkman.

The play follows A.K., who returns to his island hometown after a dreadful secret comes to light, forcing him to confront both his past and another version of himself living inside his ribcage.

Exploring masculinity, compassion and retribution, Foal examines what happens when a creature pushed to fear and labels finally bites back.

Halder said: “Corner an animal, make him feel scared, that’s when he’s dangerous. Tell a creature he’s a beast, one day he’ll bite back”.

The creative team includes set and costume designer Cara Evans, composer and sound designer Pierre Flasse, lighting designer Rajiv Pattani and casting consultant Becky Paris CDG.

Annie Kershaw’s recent directing work includes Educating Rita and Hedda Gabler at Reading Rep Theatre and Girl in the Machine at the Young Vic.

Foal is presented by HFH Productions in association with Neil McPherson for Finborough Theatre.
