The producers of Avenue Q have announced a special West End alumni reunion performance to celebrate the musical’s 20th anniversary.
Former cast members Julie Atherton, Ann Harada, Siôn Lloyd, Jon Robyns and Giles Terera will join the current company for a one-night-only finale performance at the Shaftesbury Theatre on Thursday 17 September.
The performance will be dedicated to the memory of the show’s original set designer, Anna Louizos.
The announcement comes as producers confirm there are just 17 weeks remaining to catch the musical’s anniversary West End run before it closes on 3 January 2027.
The production returned to London earlier this year with the original Broadway puppets, marking two decades since the musical first arrived in the West End. An extension into the new year was subsequently announced following strong audience demand.

The current cast includes Emily Benjamin, Noah Harrison, Meg Hateley, Oliver Jacobson, Charlie McCullagh, Amelia Kinu Muus and Dionne Ward-Anderson, alongside Jasmine Beel, Jonathan Carlton, Angelis Hunt, Lesley Lemon, Jessica Niles Kadi and Joshua Williams-Ward.
Directed by original Broadway director Jason Moore, Avenue Q features music and lyrics by Robert Lopez and Jeff Marx, with a book by Jeff Whitty.
The anniversary production also reunites a creative team including orchestrator Stephen Oremus, puppet designer Rick Lyon, choreographer Ebony Molina, costume designer Jean Chan, lighting designer Tim Lutkin, sound designer Paul Groothuis and video designer Nina Dunn.
First opening in London in 2006, Avenue Q enjoyed a successful four-year West End run before closing in 2010. A special concert production was staged at the Sondheim Theatre in 2024 to mark the musical’s 18th anniversary.
The Tony Award-winning musical follows recent graduate Princeton as he moves to New York and encounters a colourful community of neighbours navigating work, relationships and adulthood.
