The three-time Tony Award-winning and Olivier Award-nominated musical Avenue Q is heading back to the West End for a strictly limited season at the Shaftesbury Theatre, which will be reconfigured to allow for refurbishment works.

Running from Friday 20 March 2026 to Saturday 29 August 2026, this 20th anniversary revival will feature the original Broadway puppets and reunite much of the original creative team.

With music and lyrics by Robert Lopez and Jeff Marx, and a book by Jeff Whitty, Avenue Q is directed by Jason Moore, with puppet design by Rick Lyon, orchestrations by Stephen Oremus, and set design by Anna Louizos.

Joining the team for this new production is choreographer Ebony Molina, with casting by Pearson Casting CDG. Additional UK creatives will be announced soon.

The producers said:
“We’re beyond excited to bring Avenue Q back to the West End to celebrate its 20th anniversary. When the show first opened on Broadway, it broke all the rules – it was bold, funny, and full of heart, speaking honestly about growing up and finding your place in the world. Two decades later, its message feels more relevant than ever. This revival is a love letter to the original production and to everyone who’s ever seen a bit of themselves in the residents of Avenue Q. We can’t wait to reintroduce this brilliantly irreverent, endlessly uplifting show to London audiences once again.”

Avenue Q follows Princeton, a recent college graduate who moves into a rundown New York apartment on Avenue Q. There, he meets a quirky group of neighbours and together they navigate the ups and downs of adult life.

Irreverent and irresistible, Avenue Q is packed with infectious songs and loveable characters that have delighted audiences around the world.

The musical originally opened in the West End in 2006 at the Noël Coward Theatre, later transferring to the Gielgud and Wyndham’s Theatres. It played its final West End performance in 2010, with a special concert production staged in 2024 to mark its 18th anniversary.
