Hold on to your sandworms! The ghost-with-the-most is heading to London. Following multiple smash-hit Broadway runs and a major US tour, Beetlejuice: The Musical will make its West End debut at the Prince Edward Theatre in May 2026.
Presented by Crossroads Live and Warner Bros. Theatre Ventures, the production will feature the original Broadway creative team, including a book by Scott Brown and Anthony King, music and lyrics by Eddie Perfect, and direction by two-time Tony Award winner Alex Timbers.
Based on Tim Burton’s cult classic film, Beetlejuice: The Musical tells the story of Lydia Deetz, a strange and unusual teenager whose life is upended by a pair of recently deceased ghosts and the mischievous demon Beetlejuice.
James Lane, Producer at Crossroads Live, said:
“The wait is over! We are beyond thrilled to be working alongside Warner Bros. and the ingenious team behind Beetlejuice to bring this highly anticipated Broadway hit to London’s West End at last. There is nothing else quite like this show, and audiences really are in for a terrifyingly hilarious treat at the spectacular Prince Edward Theatre next year.”
Producers Mark Kaufman and Kevin McCormick added:
“After three successful Broadway engagements, a record-setting 88-city North American tour, and captivating audiences across international stages in Tokyo, Seoul, Abu Dhabi, and Melbourne, Beetlejuice will finally arrive in the United Kingdom. We are thrilled Beetlejuice will soon make its debut in London’s West End with its signature wit and irreverence.”
The creative team includes choreography by Connor Gallagher, music supervision and orchestrations by Kris Kukul, scenic design by David Korins, costume design by William Ivey Long, lighting by Kenneth Posner, sound by Peter Hylenski, and projection design by Peter Nigrini.
Special effects and illusions will be crafted by Jeremy Chernick and Michael Weber, with puppet design by Michael Curry, hair and wig design by Charles G. LaPointe, and make-up design by Joe Dulude II.
Casting for the London production is yet to be announced.
Beetlejuice: The Musical is based on the 1988 Academy Award-winning film directed by Tim Burton and starring Michael Keaton, Winona Ryder, and Geena Davis.
The musical originally opened on Broadway in 2019 and returned in 2022, playing a combined 679 performances. It has since toured internationally and will open in Abu Dhabi this November.
