Susan Aderin, Vicky Brazier and Laura Cox are the three hugely talented actresses who will portray the determined and passionate women in the new play Three Mothers by Matilda Velevitch. Three Mothers will be directed by Janys Chambers and produced by Useful Productions and will be performed at Waterloo East Theatre from 31st October to 12th November.

Writer Matilda Velevitch said: “I’m so happy to be working with such a talented and amazing cast, which makes me feel hugely lucky. Three Mothers is a story of three strong and resilient women and we have the very best people to tell them.”

Set in present day Senegal, Bavaria and post WW2 Sudentenland, Three Mothers will immerse the audience in the personal lives and the dilemmas facing its characters. The story follows their lives as they attempt to make difficult decisions that will change their lives forever. Three Mothers spans a time frame of 60 years across three different continents – Khady sends her eldest son away from Senegal in search of a better life; Gisela attempts to assist the refugees arriving in her childhood village in Bavaria which awakens memories from her own past; and Erika reveals a heart-breaking secret about her enforced march from Sudetenland in 1945 with her baby daughter.

Director Janys Chambers, New Writing Associate at Octagon Theatre Bolton with over 30 years’ experience in Theatre, Television and Radio, including nominations for BAFTA, Writers Guild, British Soap and Manchester Theatre Awards, said: “I am delighted to be working with Vicky Brazier and Laura Cox again, and with Susan Aderin on a truly brilliant piece of writing. Matilda is a phenomenal storyteller and I am excited to be part of this project.”
