Producers Kevin McCollum and Lucas McMahon, and Mike Lavoie and Carlee Briglia have announced that Catherine Tate will join the West End company of Oh, Mary! in the role of Mary Todd Lincoln from 27 April 2026, with booking now extended until 18 July 2026.
Also joining the cast is Scott Karim, who will play Mary’s Husband from 16 March. Mason Alexander Park will give their final performance as Mary Todd Lincoln on 25 April, while Giles Terera’s final performance as Mary’s Husband will be 14 March.
The show currently stars Kate O’Donnell as Mary’s Chaperone, Oliver Stockley as Mary’s Husband’s Assistant and Dino Fetscher as Mary’s Teacher.
Catherine Tate is known for her award-winning work across stage and screen, with West End credits including Under the Blue Sky, Much Ado About Nothing, Some Girls, The Catherine Tate Show Live, and Sleeping Beauty. Her extensive television work includes Doctor Who, Queen of Oz, Hard Cell and The Catherine Tate Show, while film credits range from The Nan Movie to Monte Carlo and Starter for Ten.
Scott Karim recently appeared as Smee in the RSC’s Wendy & Peter Pan at the Barbican and has performed at theatres including the National Theatre, the Young Vic, the Kiln and Chichester Festival Theatre. His screen work includes The Game for Channel 5, Halo for Paramount+ and Dracula for the BBC.
Oh, Mary! is a dark comedy centred on a miserable, suffocated Mary Todd Lincoln in the weeks leading up to Abraham Lincoln’s assassination. The play examines her frustrations, desires and forgotten inner life, told through the absurdist lens of playwright Cole Escola.
The production has received major acclaim, including Tony Awards for Best Leading Actor in a Play (Cole Escola) and Best Direction of a Play (Sam Pinkleton), as well as awards from the Drama League and New York Drama Critics’ Circle. It was also a Pulitzer Prize finalist for Drama.
The creative team includes dots as scenic designer, Holly Pierson as costume designer, Cha See as lighting designer, Daniel Kluger and Drew Levy as sound designers, Leah J. Loukas as wig designer and David Dabbon for arrangements. Casting is by Stuart Burt CDG. The Trafalgar Theatre run is executive produced by Wessex Grove.
