Acclaimed disability-led theatre company Birds of Paradise will present (We indulge in) a bit of roll play at Tramway, Glasgow, from Thursday 19 to Saturday 21 February 2026, with press night on Friday 20 February.
The production takes a fearless look at sex and disability in an accessible and unapologetic way. What begins as a sharp domestic comedy evolves into a daring blend of theatre that challenges perceptions around intimacy and disabled lives.
Starring Ed Larkin (The Little Big Things, West End; Tom Fletcher’s The Creakers), the first wheelchair user to lead a West End musical, the show follows Ben, a young disabled man juggling life at home, university, and his sometimes girlfriend, while carrying secrets that lead him from isolation to unmediated desires.
Larkin said:
“I’m really excited to be working with BOP and I cannot wait to share what we create. BOP are always looking at creating and putting on work that’s pushing the boundaries of what’s expected, in doing so, telling real and authentic stories with disability, and the disabled experience at its heart.”
Written by Hana Pascal Keegan (Beyond Her Years, Almeida Theatre), Gabriella Sloss (GOOD SEX AFTER BAD SEX, Assembly Roxy), and Robert Softley Gale (My Left Foot – The Musical), the production provokes crucial discussions around explicit storytelling and disabled narratives.
Directed by Robert Softley Gale, with intimacy coordination by Vanessa Coffey (House of the Dragon, HBO), the show includes captions, BSL interpretation, and audio description at every performance, continuing Birds of Paradise’s commitment to creative access.
