Following a sell-out season at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, Edinburgh Comedy award-winner Jordan Brookes is bringing his hilarious and brutally honest comedy Fontanelle to Soho Theatre in February 2025.

Using the Titanic as a vehicle to explore the themes of masculinity, Jordan sets out to discover whether there is any more to be uncovered from the shipwreck and explore why humanity seems to be infatuated with the commodification of tragedy. With sea shanties and top-notch comedy, Brookes treads the plank around what can and cannot be satirised. Prepared to go down with his ship, a song and a dance with special guests Eddy Hare, Rosalie Minnitt, Isobel Rogers and Lami Olopade anchor Brookes and keep him on course.

In his latest work, Fontanelle, Jordan Brookes confronts the universal feeling of being a side character in the game of life. Through sharp wit and a dash of musical theatre, he offers a candid exploration of modern life. With humour at its core, Fontanelle delves into the complexities of contemporary masculinity, the evolving boundaries of comedy, and the relentless commercialisation of crises—culminating in a striking reflection on one of the most infamous historical disasters of the 20th century.

Writer and performer Jordan Brookes comments, The world is obsessed with turning everything into entertainment, finding stories to tell in a feverish desire to ensure every moment in human history has been thrown onto the bonfire of spectacle. I’ve taken a different approach, and turned back towards one of the original moneymaker tragedies in the biz- the Titanic. Convinced there’s something previously undiscovered, I’ve gone on an obsessive deep dive to prove there’s life in the old ship yet, and by extension, me. Can I find something original to say about the most well-worn topic of all time? Or will I have to make something up?
