American writer and performer Stacie Burrows brings her hauntingly lyrical solo show No Good Drunk to Greenwich Theatre’s Studio space for two nights only, on 28 and 29 October 2025.
Set against the backdrop of West Texas dive bars and graveyards, No Good Drunk is a deeply personal exploration of memory, addiction, and generational trauma. The show blends theatre, archival road-trip footage, recorded testimony, and original songs to tell a story of inherited pain and resilience.
The Scotsman called No Good Drunk “one of the most thought-provoking shows you shouldn’t miss.”

Burrows’ journey began with a search for the grandfather her mother never knew — “a no good drunk buried somewhere in El Paso.” That search led to a mis-marked grave, a 1950s dive bar, and a deeper understanding of the invisible wounds passed down through generations.
“My mother is the absolute inspiration for the show,” says Burrows. “Like her mother before her, they did not live in a society that allowed women to stand in their truth and talk openly about abuse and alcoholic spouses. But I have a voice, and I have the freedom and ability to do so on their behalf. I feel strongly that music is the best vehicle for these kinds of stories. I’m fortunate enough to have a co-writer like Sam Small who can infuse poetry, truth and beauty into melodies and lyrics, and director Katierose Donohue Enriquez to walk the line of tragedy and beauty with me.”
Directed and co-devised by Katierose Donohue Enriquez, with music co-written by Sam Small, No Good Drunk honours the strength of Burrows’ mother, who raised five children while shielding them from the pain she endured. The show celebrates the women who persevered and the stories that refused to stay buried.
No Good Drunk is recommended for ages 15+ and contains references to suicide, alcoholism, domestic violence, and addiction.
