Award-winning Irish theatre company Fishamble returns to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe with For Dolores, a gripping new play exploring friendship, addiction and the complexities of love.

Written by Eva O’Connor and directed by Jim Culleton, the two-hander follows Réaltín and Mo, whose intense friendship begins during their student days in Edinburgh. Years later, they reflect on a relationship shaped by shared experiences, personal struggles and the lasting impact of the past.

Set across Edinburgh, Ireland and Glasgow, the play traces the evolution of a bond that is at once a friendship, a rivalry and an emotional lifeline. As the story unfolds, it examines how relationships are influenced by control, addiction and the choices we make.

Bringing together powerful performances from Lara McDonnell and Catriona Faint, For Dolores offers a deeply human portrait of connection and consequence. It asks how far people will go for those they love, and what happens when those bonds begin to fracture.

For Dolores runs at Traverse Theatre (Traverse 2) from 6 – 30 August. Tickets are available here
