Edinburgh Fringe Preview: HOLE! at Underbelly Cowbarn

Following a sold-out run at the Edinburgh Fringe and a successful New York outing, HOLE! returns in 2026 as an outrageous and heartfelt musical comedy from American Sing-Song.

Created and performed by Jake Brasch and Nadja Leonhard-Hooper, this two-hander blends irreverent humour with emotional depth. Described as part epic musical and part anarchic comedy, the show follows a strict religious sect in Nebraska who believe themselves to be the last people on Earth after an apocalyptic event known as ‘The Great Sucking’.

When two young believers set out on a life-changing journey, they begin to question everything they thought they knew about love, existence, and themselves. The show’s unique style has drawn comparisons to The Book of Mormon and The Mighty Boosh, combining outrageous comedy with surprising sincerity.

Directed by RJ Tolan, HOLE! features a strong creative team including Emmie Finckel (set design), Paige Seber (lighting), Eamon Goodman (sound), and Hahnji Jang (costume), with movement direction by Fringe First Award-winning clowns Xhloe & Natasha.

Producers Benjamin Nelson and David Thomas Tao said: “Jake Brasch and Nadja Leonhard-Hooper are two of the most deranged genius playwrights working today… We strongly encourage audiences to show up curious and receptive.”
