RUPTURE presents the world premiere of Slayers at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, an urgent new drama by playwright Corinne Salisbury exploring the impact of online misogyny and the rise of the manosphere.
Directed by Josephine Rush, the play centres on Liane, a single mother determined to protect her young daughter from the dangers of the world. As her daughter experiences bullying, Liane is confronted directly with the toxic realities of online culture, fuelling a response that begins to spiral beyond her control.
The production examines how fear, anger and the drive for justice can blur into something more dangerous, asking where the line is between protection and escalation. Through its central relationship, the play explores what it means to raise daughters in a world shaped by violence, harassment and digital influence.
Slayers brings a sharp, contemporary lens to questions of power, empathy and accountability, as well as the ways individuals process and respond to the threats they perceive around them. It asks how women navigate fear while continuing to find hope, connection and resilience.
Written by an Edinburgh-based playwright whose work has been commissioned by major theatre organisations, this new play marks the debut production from RUPTURE theatre company, underlining its commitment to bold and socially engaged storytelling.
Slayers runs at Assembly George Square Studios from 18 – 30 August at 12:15. Tickets are on sale hereÂ
