Four Star Review from Theatre WeeklyGhosted! A New Musical is a musical production presented by Helianthus Productions. It is performed in the Lower Theatre at theSpace @ Niddry Street.

It follows Henry (Isaac Casey) as he mourns the sudden death of his best friend Mia (Emma-Jane Nannetti). Henry ends up joining a paranormal support group, where he meets an exorcist named Lydia (Juliet Hill) who vows to do her best to help him. However, Mia is not the only ghost haunting Henry, and the old poetry-loving spirit (Cormac Hurney) is intent upon causing chaos.

Hurney gives an incredibly entertaining performance in their role as the tap-dancing narrator of Ghosted!. Not only do they have an impressive voice, but they also excel at bringing the humour to the show, occasionally interacting with the audience and delivering their lines in a way that is deeply amusing. Additionally, Hurney and Nannetti have a lot of chemistry and their scenes together are incredibly enjoyable.

Nannetti’s vocals shine in their final song, which reflects on the circumstances of Mia’s death. It is a very powerful song, and Nannetti’s vocals will leave the audience with goosebumps. Casey and Hill both have fantastic voices. Their duets and harmonies are beautiful to listen to and they share some very funny scenes together.

The original songs in the musical (lyrics by Makena Margolin and score by Hayden Kline) are fantastic. They’re very catchy and Margolin’s lyrics alternate between humour and deep reflection. The style is sure to be appreciated by fans of Beetlejuice or The Rocky Horror Picture Show.
