2025 marks the 70th anniversary of Patricia Highsmith’s iconic novel, which inspired the Oscar-nominated 2000 film, the 2024 Netflix adaptation starring Andrew Scott, and now this thrilling stage production.
The Talented Mr Ripley is adapted and directed by Mark Leipacher, whose previous credits include Mary Stuart and A Midsummer Night’s Dream. The production is by The Faction, known for Macbeth and My Last Duchess.
“I never wanted to murder anyone. It was necessary.”
Set in 1950s Italy, the story follows Tom Ripley, a man offered the chance to retrieve the wealthy Dickie Greenleaf from abroad. But as Tom becomes entangled in Dickie’s glamorous life, obsession leads to deception, identity theft, and murder.
This gripping adaptation promises razor-sharp dialogue, psychological intensity, and a chillingly charismatic antihero.
The creative team includes Holly Pigott (set and costume design), Ellen Farrell (associate design), Zeynep Kepekli (lighting), Max Pappenheim (sound), and Marc Frankum CDG (casting).
Produced by Jack Maple and Thomas Hopkins, The Talented Mr Ripley will tour venues across the UK from September to November 2025.
