After a week of sell-out shows at the Daegu Opera House, 4 – 7 July, Selladoor Worldwide and the cast and creatives of Flashdance the Musical scooped the 3 biggest awards at the Daegu International Musical Festival Awards.

Joanne Clifton Strictly Come Dancing Champion playing leading lady Alex Owens won Best Actress. Playing opposite Joanne in the role of Nick Hurley, Ben Adams won Best Actor and Selladoor Worldwide proudly took home the award for Best Musical.

David Hutchinson Executive Creative Producer of Selladoor, said on the night – “Flashdance is a story about following your passion and achieving your dreams no matter what challenges life throws at you. It’s heart-warming that DIMF and the people of Daegu share celebrate and champion a story about the importance of believing in yourself”

       

In 2006 Daegu had a goal to become the centre of the musical industry in South Korea by opening Daegu International Musical Festival (DIMF). Every summer, DIMF showcase international and domestic productions to audiences around the world. Organized by Daegu and supported by the Ministry of Culture, Sport and Tourism and the Arts Council Korea, the DIMF is the only international musical festival in Korea. This year they celebrated their 12th DIMF awards ceremony.
