Hampstead Theatre has announced the full cast for its upcoming revival of Indian Ink by Tom Stoppard, directed by Jonathan Kent.
The production will run from 3 December 2025 to 31 January 2026, with a press night on Monday 15 December.
Joining the previously announced Felicity Kendal as Mrs Swan are Ruby Ashbourne Serkis as Flora Crewe and Gavi Singh Chera as Nirad Das.
The cast also includes Sagar Arya as Coomaraswami, Mark Carlisle as Resident, Neil D’Souza as Dilip, Tom Durant-Pritchard as David Durance, Aaron Gill as Anish Das, Irvine Iqbal as Rajah/Politician, Evan Milton as Englishman/Eric, Bethany Muir as Englishwoman/Nell, Donald Sage Mackay as Eldon Pike, and Sushant Shekhar as Nazrul.
Indian Ink begins in 1930s India, where Flora Crewe, a Bloomsbury Group poet, travels for her health. Her free-spirited nature unsettles those she meets, but she captivates Nirad Das, a local painter.
In 1980s England, Flora’s sister Mrs Swan is visited by an American biographer seeking to uncover the truth about Flora’s journey. The mystery deepens when Das’ son arrives with a painting of Flora – a nude.
Satirical and evocative, Indian Ink explores art, love, and the cultural bridges built through creativity.
This marks Tom Stoppard’s return to Hampstead Theatre following revivals of Hapgood, Rock ‘n’ Roll, and The Invention of Love. It is the first major revival of Indian Ink since 1995, when Felicity Kendal originated the role of Flora Crewe.
Jonathan Kent directs in his first collaboration with Stoppard. His previous Hampstead credits include House of Games, Double Feature, The Forest, and Good People.
The creative team includes Leslie Travers (set design), Nicky Shaw (costume design), Peter Mumford (lighting design), Christopher Shutt (sound design), Kuljit Bhamra (composer), and Finlay Glen (assistant director). Casting is by Amy Ball.
Following its Hampstead run, Indian Ink will transfer to Theatre Royal Bath from 10–14 February 2026.
