The full cast has been revealed for Night City, a new play by Max Wilkinson that runs at Southwark Playhouse Borough from 9 September to 3 October 2026.
Directed by Ebenezer Bamgboye, the production explores the lives of workers navigating insecure employment in modern London, drawing on real experiences from across the capital’s gig economy.
The cast features Jack Ambrose as taxi driver Jack, Helena Pipe as care worker Tamara and Bex Smith, completing the trio of central characters whose lives intersect in the city.
Described as an ode to London and its often unseen workforce, Night City follows the intertwined stories of a driver, a care worker and a waitress, painting a portrait of a city that can be both thrilling and unforgiving.
Ambrose’s recent screen credits include Industry and Red Eye, while Pipe has appeared in productions including Blues for an Alabama Sky, The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind and Noughts & Crosses. Smith’s television work includes The Good Ship Murder, Coronation Street and the forthcoming BBC series The Split Up.
Commenting on the casting, writer Max Wilkinson said: “Collectively and individually, Helena, Bex and Jack all bring the toughness, humour and sensitivity that is Night City, bringing raw energy to a complex piece. It’s going to be a great show, I can’t wait to see it.”
Director Ebenezer Bamgboye added: “I am thrilled to be working with this cast. They are three brilliant, explosive, energetic performers and you will love spending an evening with them.”
The creative team includes set and costume designer Olivia Jamieson, lighting and video designer Arnim Friess, sound designer David Lewington, movement director Rose Ryan and casting director Fran Cattaneo.
Night City opens at Southwark Playhouse Borough on 9 September, with a press night scheduled for 11 September 2026.
