Chichester Festival Theatre has announced the full cast for its first ever production of Lerner & Loewe’s My Fair Lady, which runs from 6 July to 5 September, with a press night on 15 July.
Directed by Rachel Kavanaugh, the new production marks the venue’s debut staging of the celebrated musical.
Hadley Fraser will play Henry Higgins, with Keziah Ibe making her professional debut as Eliza Doolittle.
They are joined by Ben Culleton as Freddy Eynsford-Hill, Tony Jayawardena as Colonel Pickering, Belinda Lang as Mrs Higgins, Gary Milner as Alfred Doolittle, and Finty Williams as Mrs Pearce.
Further casting includes Jonathan Bourne, Nic Cain, Shani Cantor, Mark D’Arcy, Talia Duff, Nicholas Duncan, Zack Guest, Joe Henry, Jennifer Louise Jones, Ella Kora, Reuben Lally, TJ Lloyd, Maggie Lynne, Anna McGarahan, Kody Mortimer, Rachel Stanley and Jessica Vaux.
Featuring songs such as The Rain in Spain, I Could Have Danced All Night, With a Little Bit of Luck and Wouldn’t It Be Loverly, the musical tells the story of Cockney flower seller Eliza Doolittle and her transformation under the tutelage of phonetics professor Henry Higgins.
Based on George Bernard Shaw’s play Pygmalion, the musical became a Broadway hit when it premiered in 1956 and later inspired the Oscar-winning 1964 film adaptation.
The creative team includes set and costume designer Peter McKintosh, choreographer Stephen Mear, musical supervisor Stephen Ridley, musical director Cat Beveridge, lighting designer Howard Harrison, sound designer Ian Dickinson for Autograph Sound, and casting director Stuart Burt CDG.
The production will also feature a Dementia Friendly performance on 29 July and a Relaxed Performance on 1 September, alongside a Summer Gala on 28 August supporting the theatre’s ‘Stage the Future’ fundraising campaign.
