The full cast has been announced for the West End transfer of Kimberly Belflower’s acclaimed play John Proctor Is the Villain, which will run at Wyndham’s Theatre from 2 February to 24 April 2027.

Directed by Tony Award winner Danya Taymor, the production arrives in the West End following a sold-out, critically acclaimed run at the Royal Court Theatre earlier this year.

Lauryn Ajufo, Charlie Borg, Reece Braddock, Dónal Finn, Holly Howden Gilchrist, Miya James, Molly McFadden and Sadie Soverall will all reprise their roles from the Royal Court production. They are joined by Amy Macken, who joins the company for the West End transfer.

The cast is completed by Alfie Craig, Anna Francis, Thalia Gambe, Ada Grey and Tom Milligan.

Kimberly Belflower and Danya Taymor said: “We’re over the moon to be reuniting with so many members of our Royal Court coven, and to be welcoming the extraordinary Amy Macken to the fold as we prepare to take the West End by storm in 2027. Rehearsing this play with these people is a sacred, special thing; we can’t wait to be back in the room and make more magic together.”

Set in a small town where long-buried truths begin to emerge, John Proctor Is the Villain follows a group of young women who start to question the narratives they have inherited and take control of their own stories.

The production has been hailed as one of the most significant new plays of recent years, offering a sharp and contemporary exploration of power, girlhood and identity.

The play premiered on Broadway in March 2025 at the Booth Theatre, earning seven Tony Award nominations, including Best Play. Its London premiere at the Royal Court Theatre played to sold-out audiences during its run in spring 2026.

The creative team includes scenography by AMP featuring Teresa L. Williams, costume design by Sarah Laux, lighting design by Natasha Katz, sound design and original composition by Palmer Hefferan, projection design by Hannah Wasileski and movement direction by Tilly Evans-Krueger.

Produced by Sue Wagner, John Johnson, Sonia Friedman Productions, Wessex Grove, Runyonland, Spark Productions, John Mara Jr, Jillian Robbins and the Royal Court, the production will play a strictly limited 12-week engagement at Wyndham’s Theatre.
