You’re coming to London’s West End with your brand new show, what can you tell us about it?

Firstly, it’s an absolute pleasure to be welcomed on the stage in London’s West End. I would have never imagined in my life that I would be on a stage in the West End! I’m blown away. I want the audience to feel like it’s their show. I want to engage with them, for them to ask me questions and for me to share with them who Sandy was before she became a Captain, how I did that and what it’s like to be filmed and on television.

It has changed my life in so many ways, some great and some not so great. It’s like navigating the high seas, some days its calm and clear and other days it’s like a storm with reduced visibility, but hey isn’t that just like life itself? We just keep moving forward navigating our way through life.

Where did the idea for Captain Sandy Live come from?

That was all James’s and Robin’s idea. I did a few shows in the States prior to the pandemic and once we were shut down I started working on a leadership book with Hay House which is on presale now and launches 4 October 2022. As I was working on the book, I took a break and looked at my many emails when I noticed an email from James Quaife and Robin Rayner about a potential live show in London. I was like “What?”, “Really?”, “Is this for real?”

You’ll be sharing the highs and lows of your life with a live audience, how did you decide what to cover in the show?

Well, that came from the viewers. I get thousands of messages asking me how did I get sober, how did I get into the maritime industry and how can they find out more. They share that I inspire them, that they love my leadership style and how they feel after watching the show. I feel like I have a responsibility to the fans.

Did you ever expect Below Deck to become so popular, or that it would lead to your own West End show?

I had no clue what I was embarking on, I was like a deer in headlights after it aired. I had no clue how my life would change. It’s beyond comprehension. Some days I wake up and pinch myself to make sure it’s real. It’s a wild ride!

You’ll be joined on stage by your partner, Leah Rae, what will it mean to you to have her there with you?

It’s beyond amazing!! I’m so happy I’m able to do this for her, after all she lost her stage when she fell in love with me. She was a gospel singer on some of the world’s biggest stages and after they found out she was with a woman they no longer allowed her to sing on the stage. I honestly think this is where God wants her singing to a different audience, not just the church. She is meant to sing for the world, starting right here in the UK in London’s West End.

What would you say to anyone thinking of booking to see Captain Sandy Live?

Thank you and get ready to embark on a fun and wild ride!
