Pitlochry Festival Theatre has announced the first events in its 75th Anniversary fundraising appeal, featuring an eclectic mix of star names and exclusive experiences.
On Saturday 28 February, Grammy-nominated singer and pop icon Lulu will join Artistic Director Alan Cumming for an intimate conversation about her extraordinary 60-year career. The event will include a post-show signing of Lulu’s new autobiography If Only You Knew.
The following evening, Sunday 1 March, broadcaster Kirsty Wark will interview acclaimed novelist and fashion writer Justine Picardie about her latest book Fashioning the Crown. The book explores half a century of British history through royal fashion, drawing on original research in the Royal Archives and Picardie’s own encounters with the Royal Family.
Justine Picardie said:
“I’m really excited to be visiting Pitlochry Festival Theatre next month, where I’ll be talking with the wonderful Kirsty Wark about my new book, Fashioning the Crown, as part of the theatre’s exciting 75th anniversary celebrations taking place throughout the year.”
Kirsty Wark added:
“I am so delighted to be playing a small part in Pitlochry Festival Theatre’s 75th anniversary celebrations. What a great creative engine it is in the heart of Scotland. What a treat for me to sit down with the great chronicler for fashion and style Justine Picardie and hear wonderful stories – from her brand-new book Fashioning the Crown.”
Alan Cumming said:
“What an eclectic weekend this will be. I can’t wait to talk to Lulu, a woman I’ve admired literally all my life and whose new book is so frank and revealing. And then another Scottish legend Kirsty Wark will bring her passion for fashion as she talks to the great Justine Picardie. I’m looking forward to more one-off fundraisers like these throughout the year. Stay tuned!”
Alongside these events, the theatre will unveil a free exhibition showcasing 25 years of costume design, including garments, accessories, sketches and production images, celebrating Pitlochry’s renowned in-house wardrobe craft.
The fundraising appeal aims to support outstanding live theatre for the next 75 years, champion new writing and creative talent, and expand engagement programmes for schools and communities.
VIP Meet and Greet packages will be available for both events, offering audiences the chance to meet Lulu, Kirsty Wark, Justine Picardie and Alan Cumming.
