Matt Cardle will play Charlie Price in a new London revival of Kinky Boots, with Tosh Wanogho-Maud joining as Alternate Lola alongside Johannes Radebe.
Producers ROYO, Runaway Entertainment and Curve have announced that multi-platinum-selling artist and award-winning West End performer Matt Cardle will join the cast of Kinky Boots The Musical at the London Coliseum. The production runs for 17 weeks from 17 March to 11 July 2026 following a week of previews at Curve, Leicester from 3 March.
Tosh Wanogho-Maud, currently starring as Lola on the European tour, will alternate the role with Johannes Radebe.
Featuring a book by Harvey Fierstein and a score by Cyndi Lauper, the musical will be directed by Curve’s Artistic Director Nikolai Foster.
Cardle rose to fame as the winner of The X Factor in 2010 and has since released four studio albums, with a new record, The Great Escape, arriving on 10 April 2026. His theatre credits include Memphis, Jesus Christ Superstar, Strictly Ballroom and a recent UK and Ireland tour of & Juliet.
Matt said “I am absolutely over the moon to be joining the cast of Kinky Boots on London’s biggest stage. Theatre has been a huge part of my career so far, and leading a cast alongside Johannes Radebe at the London Coliseum is a huge honour. Kinky Boots is a show I’ve loved for years so to get the opportunity to step into the role of Charlie Price is a dream come true. Bringing this iconic role to life in the West End is an incredible privilege, and I cannot wait to share this production with audiences.”
Wanogho-Maud’s previous work spans Titanique, Dreamgirls, The Drifters Girl, Ain’t Too Proud and The Book of Mormon, as well as screen appearances including Jingle Jangle, Bridgerton and Roadkill.
Based on the 2005 film, Kinky Boots tells the story of Charlie Price as he attempts to save his family’s struggling shoe factory with help from Lola, a larger-than-life drag queen whose unconventional ideas might be the key to success.
The production celebrates individuality, friendship and self-expression, aiming to lift audiences “higher than ever” during its limited Coliseum season.
The creative team includes Nikolai Foster as director, Leah Hill as choreographer, Robert Jones as set designer, Robert Jones and Tom Rogers as costume designers, George Dyer as musical supervisor, Ben Cracknell as lighting designer, Adam Fisher as sound designer and casting by Harry Blumenau. The show is produced by ROYO, Runaway Entertainment and Curve.
