New Adventures has announced that Matthew Bourne’s Cinderella will return in 2026 and 2027 to celebrate the production’s 30th anniversary.

The Olivier Award-winning dance-theatre production will open at Theatre Royal Plymouth from 16 to 21 November 2026.

It will then play at The Lowry in Salford from 24 to 28 November 2026, before returning to Sadler’s Wells in London for New Adventures’ 24th annual Christmas season from 1 December 2026 to 17 January 2027.

An extensive UK tour will follow throughout 2027, with additional venues and casting to be announced.

One of New Adventures’ most popular productions, Cinderella is set in London during the Second World War and reimagines the classic fairytale through the lens of a wartime romance.

The story follows Cinderella and a young RAF pilot whose chance meeting leads to a magical night together, before they are separated by the devastation of the Blitz.

Matthew Bourne said: “Nearly thirty years ago, our Cinderella became the first (and only) ballet ever to premiere directly in the West End of London, starring Adam Cooper, Sarah Wildor, Will Kemp and Lynn Seymour.”

“Apart from a triumphant run in Los Angeles in 1999, it did not go on its first UK Tour until the production was completely revised, with spectacular new design, lighting and surround-sound in 2010.”

“This story has always held a very special place in my heart. My parents were both children of the London Blitz, living streets apart from each other in the bomb-battered East End.”

“It’s also a tribute to the spirit and resilience of my hometown but mostly it’s about love, the power of love to transcend troubled times and give hope for a better future.”

“In fact, this could be the show that we all need right now. I look forward to welcoming you all to the Ball later this year.”

The production features Olivier Award-winning designs by Lez Brotherston, lighting by Neil Austin, and video and projection by Duncan McLean.

Paul Groothuis provides sound design, immersing audiences in Prokofiev’s sweeping score and the wartime soundscape of London.

Cinderella is described as both a tribute to London during the Blitz and a timeless story of love, resilience and hope, brought vividly to life through Bourne’s signature storytelling.
