The Other Palace will once again host MTFestUK 2026, showcasing six bold new musicals over three weeks from 27 January to 15 February 2026 in The Other Palace Studio.

First launched in 2019, MTFestUK has become a vital platform for original musical theatre, with many works progressing to full productions in the UK and internationally. This year’s festival invites audiences to experience six fresh pieces through intimate one-hour workshop sharings, offering a unique glimpse into the creative process.

Paul Taylor-Mills, Artistic Director at The Other Palace, said:
“This is so exciting! I can’t wait to see the next season of MTFestUK coming to life. MTFestUK has become such an important platform for musical theatre, giving many emerging and established artists the chance to share their work. Year after year, we see musicals from the festival move on to full productions, which proves its impact and success. It’s inspiring to witness the festival continually open doors for creativity and innovation in the art form.”

This year’s lineup spans genres and themes, from digital-age community and influencer culture to witch-hunting and queer mythology. The six musicals are:

  • Shining in Misery: A King-Size Parody – A musical parody of King-size proportions by Andrew Abrams, Mark-Eugene Garcia, and Colleen DuVall, directed by Gary Lloyd.
  • Legendary – A vibrant solo musical by Cheeyang Ng, directed by Emilio Ramos, exploring lineage and belonging through Chinese mythology.
  • Tristan – Written by Matt Jones with music by Kele Okereke, this piece delves into love, lies, and identity.
  • That Witch – A high school drama with a supernatural twist by Billy Cullum and Robert Tregoning, directed by Jess Edwards.
  • The Guild: The Musical – Adapted from Felicia Day’s cult web series, with book by Allison Frasca, music by Mark Schenfisch, lyrics by Sam Balzac, and Day reprising her role as Cyd/Codex.
  • GLIMMER – A dark, adrenaline-fuelled musical by Frankie Bunce and Kat Kleve, exploring influencer culture and digital radicalisation.

MTFestUK 2026 runs at The Other Palace Studio from 27 January to 15 February 2026. Tickets start at £15 (early bird) and £16.50 thereafter, with multi-show discounts available.
