My Uncle is Not Pablo Escobar will return to Brixton House from 7 April to 3 May 2026, following a sold out premiere celebrated for its energy, politics and powerful British Latinx storytelling.

Part heist thriller and part investigative exposé, the play follows four British Latinx women who uncover a money laundering scheme within a multinational bank. Loosely inspired by the 2012 HSBC scandal, the story exposes who profits and who pays the price while challenging the stereotypes and invisibility faced by Latinx communities in the UK.

The production also forms part of a wider campaign for recognition. Latinx communities are one of the fastest growing migrant groups in the UK, yet are still categorised as “Other” in the national census. Advocacy around the show has already contributed to changes in monitoring data across major institutions, with the long term aim of achieving census inclusion in 2031.

Co writer Valentina Andrade said:
“My Uncle is Not Pablo Escobar is an exciting, surreal portrait into Latin American identity. It lives between Morley’s and arepas, between glamour and chaos, between who the world thinks we are and who we know ourselves to be”

Returning after its OFFIES 2024 OneOff Special Award and Best Play nomination, the production continues The Hale’s commitment to grassroots engagement and majority Latinx casting and creative teams. The 2026 run will coincide with the second Latin X Brixton Festival at Brixton House.
