Neal Street Productions has announced two new appointments as part of an expansion of its in‑house development team for theatre and television.

The award‑winning company has created two new roles to support its growing slate across stage and screen, strengthening its long‑term commitment to nurturing new talent.

Will Mortimer has been appointed Theatre and TV Executive, working across both departments. He will support the development of new theatre projects alongside Theatre Producer Georgia Gatti while identifying plays, writers and ideas that could transition into Neal Street’s television output.

Mortimer was previously Head of Development at the Bridge Theatre and formerly Literary Manager at Hampstead Theatre. His recent work includes serving as Development Consultant for Hot Sauce Pictures and acting as dramaturg on James Graham’s play MAKE IT HAPPEN. He is also Chair of Playwrights ’73.

Ed Cripps joins Neal Street as Development Producer, tasked with expanding the company’s pipeline of scripted TV projects. Working with Executive Producers Harriet Spencer and Julie Pastor and Head of Development Lola Oliyide, he will develop creative strategy, support existing series and originate new projects.

Cripps previously served as Head of Development at Left Bank Pictures. His earlier credits include script editing roles on DALGLIESH, NO ESCAPE, the International Emmy‑winning DES, and writers’ assistant work on EPISODES, Fresh Meat and the first season of HBO’s Succession. He also story‑produced four seasons of Made in Chelsea, winning a BAFTA for his first series.

The appointments reflect Neal Street’s long-standing focus on championing exceptional writing and innovative storytelling across multiple mediums.

Run by Sam Mendes, Pippa Harris, Caro Newling and Nicolas Brown, Neal Street has produced acclaimed theatre, film and television for more than 20 years. Its theatrical work includes The Lehman Trilogy, The Motive and the Cue, Hamnet, Local Hero and The Fifth Step, with new projects in development at the RSC, Almeida and Donmar. A stage adaptation of The Traitors is set for 2027.

The company’s film portfolio features titles such as 1917, Empire of Light, Revolutionary Road, What They Found and the award‑winning Hamnet. Upcoming films include The Magic Faraway Tree and four Beatles biopics directed by Sam Mendes.

On television, Neal Street continues to produce the long‑running hit Call the Midwife, alongside series including The Franchise, Penny Dreadful, The Hollow Crown, Britannia, Stuart: A Life Backwards and the BAFTA‑nominated Informer.
