WICKED, the stage musical phenomenon that tells the incredible untold story of the Witches of Oz, has released 400,000 new tickets, extending public booking to Sunday 31 May 2026. Curtain call photography was taken at the official opening night of theĀ WICKEDĀ 2025/ā26 company, and new production photography was also released today.
āOne of the most successful musicals of all timeā (BBC News),Ā WICKEDĀ opened in London in 2006 and is already the 10th longest-running West End production in history. Winner of more than 100 global awards, the production has now been seen by nearly 13 million people in London alone and celebrated its 7000th performance at the Apollo Victoria Theatre on Friday 15 November 2024.
The London company currently stars Emma Kingston (Elphaba), Zizi Strallen (Glinda), Carl Man (Fiyero), Sarah Ingram (Madame Morrible), Michael Matus (The Wizard), Ross Carpenter (Boq), David McKechnie (Doctor Dillamond), Hannah Qureshi (Nessarose), and Laura Emmitt (Alternate Elphaba). WICKEDĀ has music and lyrics by multi-OscarĀ® and GrammyĀ® Award winner Stephen Schwartz (Godspell,Ā Pippin,Ā The Prince of Egypt, DisneyāsĀ Pocahontas,Ā The Hunchback of Notre DameĀ andĀ Enchanted). It is based on the multimillion-copy best-selling novelĀ Wicked: The Life and Times of the Wicked Witch of the WestĀ by Gregory Maguire and written by EmmyĀ® and Tony AwardĀ® nominee Winnie Holzman (creator of the landmark American television seriesĀ My So-Called Life). Musical staging is by Tony AwardĀ® winner Wayne Cilento with direction by two-time Tony AwardĀ® winner Joe Mantello.
Stephen Schwartz and Winnie Holzman have collaborated on the two-part Universal Pictures film version ofĀ WICKED, starring Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande. Part 1 of the blockbuster opened on November 22nd, 2024, and has become the highest-grossing film, based on a stage musical, in history.Ā WICKED: For GoodĀ will be released in the UK on November 21, 2025.
