Opera in the Meantime Hansel and Gretel

Opera in the Meantime is bringing its vibrant telling of Hansel and Gretel to London at The Drayton Arms Theatre the first week of December.

Innovative shadow puppetry, colourful staging and a passionate young cast is set to transport audiences to a magical forest full of surprises. With characters that will spark emotions from sorrow to laughter to perplexity, theatre-goers will follow Hansel and Gretel on their journey into the depths of the forest, wondering how they will evade the candy-powered perils within.

Opera in the Meantime believes there is an exciting opportunity to reach new audiences with classical music. Evoking the familiar story of Hansel and Gretel and singing in English, Opera in the Meantime hopes to get people into opera for the first time and appeal to all ages.

Opera in the Meantime is a dynamic young opera company founded by Lucy Elston in 2017 on the premise that brilliant shows can be put together on a low budget and with a small team. The cast is made up of recent graduates from RAM, RWCMD, TLCMD and WIAV. Passionate about what they do and committed to making opera accessible to everybody, Opera in the Meantime’s goal is to make performances feel intimate, and for audiences to feel close to the action.

Hansel and Gretel will be at Drayton arms Theatre Tue 3rd Dec – Sat 7th Dec 2019, Tickets are on sale here https://www.thedraytonarmstheatre.co.uk/hansel-and-gretel
