Preview: Red/Wolf at VAULT Festival

Straight off the success of Prom Kween, Award winning writer/performer Rebecca Humphries (The Stage Award, Three Weeks Editor’s Choice, Musical Comedy Award) brings a Brother’s-Grimm-meets-Sally-Bowles work in progress tale, Red/Wolf to VAULT Festival, from the producer who brought you Prom Kween, Margaret Thatcher Queen of Soho and How to Win Against History.

Red/Wolf is a unique and subversive cabaret that twists the tale of Little Red Riding Hood and takes it dangerously personally.

Wouldn’t it be nice if the bad things didn’t happen?

-Yes it would.

If the dark forest didn’t exist?

-But it does…..

Through original music, black comedy and a touch of Bavarian chic, Rebecca Humphries explores the fairy tale’s underlying themes. Of responsibility. Fear. Illness. And the wolves that exist within ourselves.

Featuring a live band and an original score by Toby Marlow (Six – Arts Theatre / the award winning Hot Gay Time Machine) Red/Wolf intertwines the sugar sweet bedtime story with real life experiences of the effect mental illness can have on families. Expect unabashed pop, Weimar era jazz, and a spoonful of Julie Andrews to make the medicine go down.

This Work in Progress version of Red/Wolf is at VAULT Festival 28th February – 4th March.
