Production images have been released for the new UK and Ireland touring production of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, as producers Melting Pot and Birmingham Rep announce a further extension to the tour schedule.
The newly announced 2027 dates will see the production visit Peterborough New Theatre, Theatre Royal Plymouth, Grand Theatre Wolverhampton, The Marlowe Canterbury and Theatr Clwyd in Mold.
Adapted by Simon Stephens from Mark Haddon’s multi-million-selling novel and directed by Ned Bennett, the production opened at Birmingham Rep earlier this month before embarking on a major tour across the UK and Ireland.
Leading the cast are Alex Keenan and Imi Price, the first women to portray Christopher Boone in the play’s history. Their interpretation offers a fresh perspective on one of contemporary theatre’s most celebrated characters while remaining true to the story’s emotional core.
They are joined by Charlie Brooks and Joe McFadden as Christopher’s parents, Judy and Ed. Brooks is best known for her long-running role as Janine Butcher in EastEnders, while McFadden is familiar to audiences from Holby City, Heartbeat and as the winner of Strictly Come Dancing in 2017.
The company also includes Bridgette Amofah, Alex Murdoch, Matthew Bulgo, Jerone Marsh Reid, Carla Garratt, Tom Clegg, Robert Penny and Sera Mustafa.
The story follows Christopher Boone, a young person with an extraordinary talent for mathematics who becomes determined to solve the mystery surrounding the death of a neighbour’s dog. What begins as a straightforward investigation soon uncovers hidden family secrets and challenges everything Christopher thought they knew about the world around them.
First staged at the National Theatre in 2012, The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time became an international phenomenon, winning widespread acclaim for its inventive staging and powerful storytelling. The production has since been seen by more than five million people worldwide.
The touring production features set and costume design by Eleanor Bull, lighting design by Laura Howard, sound and composition by Giles Thomas, video design by Hayley Egan and movement direction by Jenni Jackson.
