Queer Theatre has announced a packed Summer and Autumn 2026 programme, bringing together LGBTQIA+ artists, audiences and allies through a diverse season of play readings, live events, showcases and community celebrations across London.
The award-winning theatre and production company will continue its popular Queer Play Reading Club in partnership with Nick Hern Books, welcoming a trio of acclaimed playwrights to discuss some of the UK’s best-known contemporary queer plays.
On 21 July, Tabby Lamb joins the club to discuss her Fringe First Award-winning trans rom-com Happy Meal. The series continues on 18 August with Iman Qureshi’s The Funeral Director, before concluding on 15 September with Tom Wells discussing his celebrated football comedy Jumpers for Goalposts.
The Show People Podcast also continues its residency at The Two Brewers, with actor Cheryl Fergison joining host Andrew Keates for a live recording on 12 August. The conversation will explore her career across television, theatre, music and writing.
The company’s popular OutCast Showcase returns on 29 July, bringing together performers of all experience levels alongside new writing in an evening dedicated to LGBTQIA+ voices.
Community remains central to the organisation’s work, with Queer Theatre participating in London Trans+ Pride on 25 July and launching a Summer Picnic and Optional Swim on Hampstead Heath on 15 August.
September sees the company celebrate its second birthday with Luvvie: The Party for Queer People in the Performing Arts. Taking place on 11 September, the event will bring together LGBTQIA+ creatives and allies from across the industry for an evening of networking and celebration.
The autumn programme culminates with the return of The Big Queer Theatre Variety Night on 2 October, promising an evening of cabaret, drag, stand-up and live performance at The Two Brewers.
Alongside its events programme, Queer Theatre continues to run its weekly Acting Classes for LGBTQIA+ People every Monday in Clapham, led by Artistic Director Andrew Keates.
Andrew Keates said, “It is one of the great privileges of my life to serve this diverse company of LGBTQIA+ artists, which I founded nearly two years ago.
“Every week, Queer Theatre fills LGBTQIA+ venues with emerging, professional and returning theatre-makers through our Acting Classes for LGBTQIA+ People, Luvvie: The Party for Queer People in the Performing Arts, and our Queer Play Reading Club, which connects our community with some of the finest queer writers in the UK. Our showcases and variety nights are already helping brilliant queer talent in London gain exposure, secure work, find representation and access new creative opportunities.
“And as the temperature continues to rise for LGBTQIA+ people in this country, we continue to march at Pride events shoulder to shoulder with the friends we have made by choosing to show up for one another, play together and refuse to be alone.”
