Riverside Studios has announced its full autumn programme as the iconic West London venue continues celebrations marking its 50th anniversary year.
The season brings together new writing, returning productions and contemporary performance from both emerging and established artists, reflecting the venue’s long-standing commitment to innovative theatre and creativity.
A key part of the anniversary programme is REP: Radical Classical, presented by Flywheel Theatre Company, Veritas Productions and Riverside Studios. Running from 8 September to 10 October, the repertory season sees five actors perform five classic plays, celebrating the history of both Riverside Studios and the artists who have shaped its legacy over the past five decades.
The season includes The Cherry Orchard by Anton Chekhov, The School for Wives by Molière, Phaedra by Jean Racine, Measure for Measure by William Shakespeare and The Virtuous Burglar by Dario Fo.
Also announced is Romeo and Hamed by debut writer Scott Horgan, running from 2 to 6 September. Directed by Maddy Corner, the play is a queer reimagining of Shakespeare’s tragedy, set in Croydon and exploring themes of love, faith, family and belonging.
Following a sold-out London debut, Imitations transfers to Riverside Studios from 15 September to 3 October. Set in a Manchester flat, the comedy-drama follows childhood friends Bea and Frank as a surprise reunion uncovers old memories and difficult truths.
Cadel: Lungs On Legs, created and performed by Connor Delves, arrives from 13 October to 15 November. The award-winning solo show tells the story of cycling legend Cadel Evans, with Delves remaining on a bike throughout the performance as he explores the determination behind Evans’ Tour de France victory.
Mohit Mathur’s dance-drama Are You Even Indian? runs from 17 to 29 November. Set within a surreal courtroom, the production examines identity, belonging and intercultural relationships through the story of a marriage between a British-born South Asian woman and an Indian-born man.
Riverside Studios will also host the UK premiere of The Song of Grace from 9 to 13 September. Created by The Prema Collective, the production combines theatre, dance and live music in a story inspired by the Bhagavad Gita and centred on a young violinist reconnecting with a family lullaby.
The venue has also confirmed details of Tony Award-winning director and producer Andy Sandberg’s Mainstage Season, running from September 2026 to July 2027. The season includes Affluenza, written and directed by Sandberg, alongside Sacrilegious by Oscar-winning screenwriter Tom Schulman and Expecting by Scott Elmegreen and Drew Fornarola, with further productions and casting to be announced.
Head of Programming Rhys Williamson said: “We’re incredibly proud to welcome such a diverse range of artists to Riverside for our 50th anniversary year, and we can’t wait to share these exciting new productions with audiences over the coming months.”
