New photos from the rehearsal room of Romeo & Juliet have been released, offering a first look at Sadie Sink and Noah Jupe as Shakespeare’s iconic star-crossed lovers.

The production, directed by Robert Icke, begins performances at the Harold Pinter Theatre on Wednesday 18 March 2026. The strictly limited 12‑week season will run until Saturday 6 June, with a press night set for Tuesday 31 March.

Sink, known for Stranger Things and her Tony Award nominated Broadway turn in John Proctor Is The Villain, stars as Juliet. Jupe, whose recent work includes Hamnet, A Quiet Place and Honey Boy, takes on the role of Romeo.

They are joined by a large ensemble including Jamie Ankrah, Dylan Corbett-Bader, Eden Epstein, Alex Felton, Clark Gregg, Ada Grey, Kasper Hilton-Hille, Aruna Jalloh, John Marquez, Caroline Moroney, Clare Perkins, David Shelley, Lewis Shepherd and Alexander Uzoka.

The creative team includes set and costume designer Hildegard Bechtler, lighting designer Jon Clark, sound designer Giles Thomas, video designer Ash J. Woodward, casting directors Julia Horan CDG and Jim Carnahan CSA, voice coaches Penny Dyer and Nick Trumble, fight director Kev McCurdy, associate director Jack Bradfield, assistant director Neetu Singh, costume supervisor Sabia Smith, wigs, hair and make-up supervisors Campbell Young Associates, props supervisor Lily Mollgaard and production manager Kate West.

The production promises a contemporary take on the classic tale. Set in Verona at the height of summer, the story follows two young people who meet at a party. The rest is tragedy.

Empire Street Productions produce Romeo & Juliet, adding to an expanding portfolio that includes the UK tour of Prima Facie, A Complicated Woman, Elektra, Slave Play, the Olivier and Tony Award winning Prima Facie, and The Pillowman. They also present the conversation series Live from Soho at the Underbelly Boulevard.

In partnership with ATG Entertainment Creative Learning and the Harold Pinter Theatre, the company has also developed Romeo & Juliet: The Star-Crossed Projects. This schools initiative provides Key Stage 3 and 4 students with opportunities to experience the play and participate in creative workshops. Sessions will culminate in performances on the Harold Pinter stage on 4 and 5 June 2026.
