Review: My Fair Lady at The Mill at Sonning

The Mill at Sonning has revealed the cast for Cash On Delivery, a side-splitting farce by Michael Cooney, running from 5 February to 4 April. Directed by Ron Aldridge, this whirlwind comedy promises an evening of uproarious laughter and theatrical escapism.

Mention the name Cooney and your mind instantly races to uproarious comedy – and you’d be right. Written by Michael Cooney, son of farce legend Ray Cooney, Cash On Delivery is packed with razor-sharp dialogue, lightning timing and an avalanche of comic twists.
The plot centres on Eric Swan, who has pocketed thousands through fraudulent benefit claims. When Norman Bassett opens the door to a DSS inspector, chaos ensues – complete with an undertaker, bereavement counsellor, psychiatrist, a corpse, and even a rebellious washing machine. Mistaken identities and frantic cover-ups spiral into mayhem, ensuring audiences will be holding their sides for dear life.
The cast features James Bradshaw (Endeavour) as Norman Bassett, Steven Pinder (Brookside, Wicked) as Eric Swan, Rachel Fielding (The Silent Child) as Sally Chessington, Harry Gostelow (Witness for the Prosecution) as Mr Jenkins, Elizabeth Elvin (The Mousetrap) as Mrs Cowper, Oscar Cleaver as Dr Chapman, Natasha Gray (Emmerdale) as Linda Swan, Melanie Gutteridge as Miss Dixon, Ian Stuart Robertson as Uncle George, and Titus Rowe as Mr Forbright.
The creative team includes director Ron Aldridge, set designer Alex Marker and costume designer Natalie Titchener.
The Mill at Sonning remains one of the UK’s most unique venues, combining award-winning theatre with a complimentary two-course meal. Press performances will take place on Friday 13 February (evening) and Saturday 14 February (matinee), with pre-show dining included.
