Full casting has been announced for the London transfer of A Role To Die For, the critically acclaimed comedy by Jordan Waller, directed by Olivier Award winner Derek Bond.
The production will run at Marylebone Theatre from Saturday 26 July to Saturday 30 August 2025, with a national press night on Thursday 31 July.
Joining the cast for the London run is Tanya Franks (EastEnders, Pulling, Broadchurch) as ‘Deborah’. She stars alongside Philip Bretherton (As Time Goes By, The Final Cut) as ‘Malcolm’, Harry Goodson-Bevan (Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, Saturday Night Fever) as ‘Quinn’, and Obioma Ugoala (Hamilton, Frozen, The Book Thief) as ‘Theo’.
Tanya Franks and Obioma Ugoala are new additions for the London run, while Philip Bretherton and Harry Goodson-Bevan reprise their roles from the Barn Theatre premiere earlier this year.
She’s not just casting a role. She’s gambling with a legacy.
On the eve of Hollywood’s biggest casting reveal, Deborah is set to announce the next face of the world’s most iconic spy. But when scandal erupts, she must choose between tradition and transformation.
Sharp-witted and laugh-out-loud, A Role To Die For explores identity, legacy, and the explosive clash between old-school glamour and modern reinvention.
Critics have praised the show as “wickedly funny” and “a real five-star blockbuster.” The Telegraph called it “a tonic,” while Wilts and Glos Standard hailed it as “a real crowd-pleaser.”
The creative team from the Barn Theatre run returns, including Cory Shipp (set and costume design), Adam Foley (lighting), Amanda Priestley (sound), and Matt Powell (video design), with Anna Ryder as Associate Director.
Director Derek Bond said, “It’s such a joy to return to this play with such a talented cast – Tanya is the perfect addition to a company already bursting with comic timing and chemistry.”
Writer Jordan Waller added, “After a brilliant run at the Barn Theatre this year, I am thrilled that we’re bringing the show to London – and even more excited that Tanya Franks is stepping into Deborah’s shoes. It’s going to be a blast!”
