The stage version of one of the UK’s best-loved children’s books comes to Scarborough’s Stephen Joseph Theatre next month.
The Gruffalo, presented by Tall Stories, will be performed at the SJT on 8, 9 and 10 May.
The magical, musical adaptation of the classic picture book by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler returns by popular demand, celebrating the production’s 25th anniversary.
On a daring adventure in search of hazelnuts, Mouse meets the cunning Fox, the eccentric old Owl and the high-spirited Snake.
Will the story of the scary Gruffalo save Mouse from ending up as dinner for these hungry woodland creatures? After all, there’s no such thing as a Gruffalo, is there?
The production promises songs, laughs and mischievous fun for children aged three and up and their grown-ups.
The Gruffalo has been touring the UK and internationally since May 2001, with performances in 16 countries across five continents.
The production has played twice at Sydney Opera House, twice on Broadway, enjoyed ten West End seasons and appeared at the National Theatre.
The original book was first published in 1999 and has sold over 13.5 million copies worldwide.
It has been translated into more than 50 languages and remains the UK’s bestselling picture book.
Performances take place on Friday 8 May at 1.30pm and 4.30pm, and on Saturday 9 and Sunday 10 May at 10.30am and 1.30pm.
