Leicester’s Curve theatre has revealed the first casting news for its highly anticipated Made at Curve Christmas production of The Sound of Music.

Returning to the Curve stage are Molly Lynch and David Seadon-Young, who previously captivated audiences in My Fair Lady.

Directed by Curve’s Artistic Director Nikolai Foster, The Sound of Music will run from Saturday 22 November 2025 to Sunday 11 January 2026, with a press night on Thursday 27 November at 7pm.

Molly Lynch, whose portrayal of Eliza Doolittle was hailed as “A star is born” by The Daily Telegraph, will take on the role of Maria, the spirited novice nun.

David Seadon-Young, described as “sublime” by The Times for his performance as Professor Henry Higgins, will play Captain Georg von Trapp.

The production’s creative team includes Musical Supervisor and Orchestrations Adapter George Dyer, Choreographer Ebony Molina, Set and Costume Designer Michael Taylor, Lighting Designer Mark Henderson, Sound Designer Nick Lodge, Props Supervisor Ryan O’Connor, Associate Director Ollie Khurshid, and Casting Director Olivia Laydon for Jill Green Casting.

Speaking about the casting, Curve’s Chief Executive Chris Stafford and Artistic Director Nikolai Foster said:

“Molly Lynch and David Seadon-Young created pure theatrical magic when they breathed new life into My Fair Lady at Curve last year. These were virtuosic performances, filled with beauty, courage and originality, that none of us who had the privilege of seeing, will ever forget. It’s an honour to see these magnificent, once in a generation talents returning to Leicester, where they promise to give everything to these magnificent characters and this important landmark of musical theatre.”

The production will be supported by Curve’s Creative Programmes team with wraparound learning and engagement activities, including a free digital Education Pack, bespoke workshops for schools, and a Theatre Day on Thursday 4 December.

Accessible performances will include BSL Interpreted (5 Dec), Captioned (13 & 18 Dec), Dementia Friendly (16 Dec), Audio Described with Touch Tours (20 Dec & 6 Jan), and Relaxed (8 Jan).

The Sound of Music tells the story of Maria, who brings joy and music into the lives of the von Trapp family, only for their world to be upended by the threat of war. The musical features beloved songs such as “Do-Re-Mi,” “My Favorite Things,” and “Climb Ev’ry Mountain.”
