Theatre Channel has announced a landmark partnership with Heritage Theatre, bringing six historic productions to global audiences via its streaming platform.
The Heritage Theatre Collection is now available to Theatre Channel+ members, with one-time rental options also offered to subscribers across the UK and Europe.
Among the featured titles is the Royal Shakespeare Company’s 1999 production of The Winter’s Tale, a critically acclaimed staging performed at the Barbican Theatre.
Also included is Denial, Arnold Wesker’s psychological drama, which premiered at the Bristol Old Vic under the direction of Andy Hay.
A rare gem in the collection is the 1974 live recording of King Lear, starring James Earl Jones, Raul Julia, Paul Sorvino, and Ellen Holly, captured at Joseph Papp’s New York Shakespeare Festival in Central Park.
Simon Callow stars in The Mystery of Charles Dickens, a one-man show written by Peter Ackroyd that intertwines Dickens’ life with his iconic characters. The production played at London’s Comedy and Albery Theatres before transferring to Broadway.
Musical theatre fans will enjoy Alone Together – Michael Ball Live at the Donmar, a stripped-back concert showcasing Ball’s vocal artistry and emotional depth.
Completing the collection is Stars and the Moon: Betty Buckley Live at the Donmar, featuring the Tony Award-winning Broadway legend in a spellbinding concert praised by Variety as “a peerless melding of vulnerability and power.”
