The Unicorn Theatre has announced the cast and national tour for Toto Kerblammo! by Tim Crouch, which returns to London following its award-winning run in 2024.
Written and directed by Tim Crouch, Toto Kerblammo! will run at the Unicorn Theatre’s Clore Theatre from Friday 8 May to Friday 22 May 2026, before embarking on a national tour.
The production will then visit Theatre by the Lake in Keswick, Edinburgh International Children’s Festival, Live Theatre in Newcastle and The Egg in Bath, supported by a National Lottery Project Grant from Arts Council England.
The newly announced cast includes Madeline Appiah, Oliver Baines, Tim Crouch, Sinéad Matthews and Lily Olufemi-Bywaters.
The creative team features designer Lily Arnold, sound designer and composer Helen Skiera, movement director Ingrid Mackinnon, lighting designer Will Monks and sound associate Deanna H. Choi.
Toto Kerblammo! tells the story of Effy, sent to live with her aunt and uncle in a no-dogs-allowed block of flats, and the secret bond she shares with her dog Toto.
Audiences experience the production wearing headphones, immersing them in Effy’s world through 3D binaural audio technology in a live mix of sound and action.
The Unicorn has partnered for the first time with children’s mental health charity Place2Be to develop audience care resources that help families and schools engage with the themes of the production.
Tim Crouch said: “I’m overjoyed to have been given the chance to revisit this play. Every new performance in theatre is a revival of its own but this is major: two new brilliant actors bringing fresh life to the story of the girl and her dog. I can’t wait to share it with a 2026 audience.”
Rachel Bagshaw, Artistic Director and Co-CEO of the Unicorn Theatre, said: “I’m so excited to welcome back Tim Crouch’s searing exploration of love, hope, friendship and resilience to the Unicorn, with a standout cast and creative team of new and returning faces. Tim’s work always has a remarkable ability to explore our complex world through exquisite storytelling, creating space for young audiences to engage with big themes that may be challenging but that reflect the lived experiences of many children today. By extending our reach beyond London, we continue in our mission to make our work as accessible as possible and to offer vital first encounters with theatre for children nationwide.”
