West End Celebrates Alan Menkin

West End Celebrates Alan Menkin

Today Producer Lawrence Broomfield has unveiled an all-star concert, the ‘West End Celebrates Alan Menken’. The event, which will take place at St Paul’s Church (Covent Garden, WC2E 9ED) on Sunday 24th March, will be hosted by Olivier award winner Sara Kestelman. It will bring together renowned stars of theatre, TV, and film to raise vital funds for the charity JDRF. JDRF is a charity dedicated to improving the lives of everyone living with type 1 diabetes, and proceeds from the event will support them on their mission to discover better treatments and work towards a future free from type 1 diabetes.

The concert will mark Alan Menken’s 75th birthday year and will feature beloved songs from Disney classics including Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, and The Hunchback of Notre Dame, as well as a selection of his other musical theatre works.

Tickets range from £35 to £45 and can be purchased at www.actorschurch.org/whatson/west-end-celebrates-alan-menken.

Emmy award winning producer, Professor Dominic Broomfield-McHugh commented: “I’m delighted we can work with some of the West End’s finest artists to support the JDRF in finding a cure for this life-changing disease that I’ve suffered from for nearly 40 years. Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease that occurs when the body attacks the cells that produce insulin in the pancreas. It causes potentially life-threatening high and low levels of sugar in the blood, and often leads to serious complications like heart disease, blindness, stroke, and amputation. Over 20 million people suffer with it worldwide and there’s currently no cure. The generous support of our attendees and performers will ensure the charity can continue to carry out its vital work.”

The star-studded cast list features West End favorites Matthew Croke (Aladdin), Claire Moore (Phantom of the Opera), Rebekah Hinds (Oklahoma!), Margaret Preece (Sister Act), Robert Meadmore (Phantom of the Opera), Luke Bayer (Everybody’s Talking About Jamie), Ellena Vincent (Hamilton), Stephen John Davis (Phantom of the Opera), Luke Redmore (Grease), Rebecca Collingwood (Roman Holiday), Monique Young (Mary Poppins), and Teddy Hinde (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory). Supported by a five-piece band and the 65 member Laine Theatre Arts choir, it promises to be a magical evening.
