The West End phenomenon Wicked has reached a major milestone, welcoming its 13 millionth visitor to the Apollo Victoria Theatre in London.

On Tuesday 6 May 2025, Theresa Lalim and her daughter Hannah, visiting from the USA, became part of Wicked history as they attended the production’s 7,199th performance. The trip was a graduation gift for 22-year-old Hannah, who recently completed her studies at the University of North Dakota.

The pair made a spontaneous decision to attend the show a day earlier than planned and were thrilled to be surprised with the honour and a chance to meet the cast.

“One of the most successful musicals of all time” (BBC News), Wicked opened in London in 2006 and is now the 10th longest-running West End production in history.

The production has won over 100 global awards and celebrated its 7,000th performance at the Apollo Victoria Theatre in November 2024.

The current London cast includes Emma Kingston as Elphaba, Zizi Strallen as Glinda, and Carl Man as Fiyero. They are joined by Sarah Ingram, Michael Matus, Ross Carpenter, David McKechnie, Hannah Qureshi, Laura Emmitt, and Lydia Gerrard, among a large and talented ensemble.

Wicked is based on Gregory Maguire’s novel and features music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz, with a book by Winnie Holzman. The show is directed by Joe Mantello with musical staging by Wayne Cilento.

The story imagines the untold backstory of the witches from The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, exploring how two unlikely friends become Glinda the Good and the Wicked Witch of the West.

The musical’s popularity has extended to the big screen, with the first part of the Universal Pictures film adaptation, starring Cynthia Erivo and Ariana Grande, released in November 2024. The second part, Wicked: For Good, is set for release in the UK on 21 November 2025.

Performances of Wicked continue Tuesday to Saturday at 7.30pm, with matinees on Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday at 2.30pm. Additional performances have been added for key dates through to April 2026.
