The Lyric Hammersmith Theatre is marking its 130th birthday with a spectacular one-night-only celebration, A Very Musical Birthday, taking place on Sunday 19 October 2025 at 5pm.

Hosted by Mel Giedroyc and directed by the Lyric’s Associate Director Nicholai La Barrie, the event will feature an all-star cast of Lyric alumni performing songs and scenes from the theatre’s rich history.

The line-up includes Emmanuel Akwafo, Adjoa Andoh, Julie Atherton, Natasha Barnes, Gabriela Benedetti, Maddison Bulleyment, Samantha Bond, Harriet Caplan-Dean, Jaz Singh Deol, Anoushka Deshmukh, Robert Donnelly, Rima Georges, Thomas Grant, Dame Sheila Hancock, Sam Harrison, Adam Hunter, Rhianne-Louise McCaulsky, Gracie McGonigal, Clarke Peters, Rachel Seiran, Michael Sheen and Sheridan Townsley.

The evening will celebrate the Lyric’s journey from Victorian music hall to contemporary theatre powerhouse, all within its historic Frank Matcham auditorium.

All proceeds from A Very Musical Birthday will support the LIGHT UP THE LYRIC campaign, funding essential upgrades to the auditorium’s lighting and helping secure the theatre’s future.

Rachel O’Riordan, Artistic Director of the Lyric Hammersmith Theatre, said:
“Celebrating an 130th birthday is an incredible achievement and we’re thrilled to be opening the doors to our historic auditorium to celebrate in style. Our beautiful Frank Matcham Main House theatre inspires everything we do: from the world-class productions on stage to our award-winning work with young people. This event will both celebrate that work with a spectacular one-night-only show and also raise vital funds to upgrade our auditorium for the future. We hope to see you there.”
