Canonbie Productions is set to premiere their latest comedy-thriller, This is Not A Murder Mystery, at the Drayton Arms Theatre from May 27th to June 7th, 2025. Following the success of An Absolute Farce of a Murder Mystery and Don’t Take The Pith!, this new production promises to deliver a tense and exciting experience.

Set in a regional theatre dressing room on the opening night of a brand-new murder mystery, the play follows award-winning director Sebastian Fawn as he attempts to wrangle his cast. The ensemble includes former child star Sheila-Jayne Punnock, cult-TV icon Angelica Finchley-Power, life-coach/actress Elizabeth Treasure, and the handsome young male ingénue James Maguffin. As the night unfolds, a shocking discovery is made, raising the question: will reality imitate art?

The cast features Helen Bang, Rosalind Blessed, Jonny Davidson, James Mackay, Laura Morgan, and Peter Rae. The creative team includes director Helen Bang, assistant director Oettie Devriese, and lighting designers James Denny & Mudlark Creative.

Content warnings for the production include majority female dialogue, women over 50, swearing, murder, dressing room nakedness, fast-paced dialogue, and minimal thinking time. The play is written by Peter Rae, who also penned the previous productions.
