Following a sell-out run at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and an Irish tour, Don’t Tell Dad About Diana is set to arrive at Underbelly Boulevard Soho for a limited London run this spring.
The production will play on Tuesday 26 May and Thursday 28 May 2026 at 7pm, bringing its high-energy blend of drag, comedy and 90s nostalgia to the capital.
Set in 1997 Dublin, Don’t Tell Dad About Diana is a queer coming-of-age story exploring the tension between leaving home and staying to build something new, inspired by the lived experiences of its creators.
The show is created and performed by real-life best friends Hannah Power and Conor Murray, whose critically acclaimed Fringe debut was named one of Rolling Stone’s 10 Standout Fringe Shows and won Theatre Weekly’s Best LGBTQ+ Show at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
Inspired by Princess Diana as a patron saint of misfits, the story follows two Irish teenagers secretly preparing to compete in Alternative Miss Ireland with a Diana-themed drag act, while navigating family pressures and a changing Ireland ahead of the Good Friday Agreement.
Blending melodrama, theatrical ceremony and cinematic storytelling, the piece reclaims 90s cultural memory through a working-class Irish and queer lens, with references ranging from Spice Girls posters to the soundtrack of Now That’s What I Call Music 38.
Following its Fringe success, the show has gone on to win the Fishamble New Writing Award 2025 at Dublin Fringe Festival and the Bewley’s Little Gem Award 2025, and was shortlisted for the Holden Street Theatre Award 2025.
Rolling Stone praised the production as “Drum tight and deadly,” while The Skinny described it as “Uplifting and unapologetically life-affirming, Don’t Tell Dad About Diana radiates from start to finish.”
The London transfer is directed by Emma Finegan and produced by Rua Barron, with creative support from dramaturg Austin Hughes and a design team including Gabe Gilmour, Ferdy Emmet and Theo Foley.
