Fempaths: Transistor Radio Hour brings a theatrical gig to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, combining live music, storytelling and performance into a bold and unpredictable hour of cabaret.
Created and performed by FEMPATH, also known as Mari Moriarty, the show is driven by song, with an accompanying live band of trans artists. Ballads and anthems sit alongside irreverent, comedic numbers, creating a constantly shifting tone that moves between the intimate and the provocative.
Drawing on voices from trans history, activism and contemporary culture, the performance transforms real testimonies into original music. Figures including Marsha P. Johnson and Kim Petras feature alongside stories pulled from Moriarty’s own life, weaving together a wide mix of perspectives and experiences.
The piece explores themes including identity, belonging, sexuality and resilience, while embracing a spirit that is unapologetically sex-positive and politically engaged. Structured as a series of distinct moments and personas, the show builds into something more communal, described as a gathering space as much as a performance.
Balancing humour with raw emotion, Fempaths: Transistor Radio Hour offers a dynamic and immersive experience shaped by music, memory and collective expression.
Fempaths: Transistor Radio Hour runs at Underbelly Bristo Square from 5 – 30 August at 20:45. Tickets are on sale hereÂ
