Theatre Royal Bath Productions has unveiled first-look production images for its new stage adaptation of Jane Austen’s Emma, offering a glimpse into the elegant world of Regency romance and social intrigue.

Adapted by Ryan Craig and directed by Stephen Unwin, Emma opens at Theatre Royal Bath from Thursday 11 to Saturday 20 September, ahead of a national tour. The production marks a fitting tribute to the 250th anniversary of Bath’s most celebrated literary figure.

Set against the backdrop of Georgian splendour, the images showcase India Shaw-Smith as the spirited Emma Woodhouse, a young woman determined never to marry but eager to meddle in the romantic affairs of those around her.

“I am going to take a heroine whom no one but myself will much like,” wrote Austen of her iconic protagonist.

The cast also features Oscar Batterham, William Chubb, Jade Kennedy, Peter Losasso, Rose Quentin, Daniel Rainford, Ed Sayer and Maiya Louise Thapar, with Jordan Kilshaw, Lukwesa Mwamba, Charlie Norton, Hugh Osborne and Jordan Stamatiadis.
