Rifco Theatre Company’s highly acclaimed musical, Frankie Goes to Bollywood, is set to captivate audiences at the Southbank Centre’s Queen Elizabeth Hall from July 31 to August 18. This spectacular production, inspired by real stories of British women navigating the glitzy world of Bollywood, promises a breathtakingly colourful journey filled with romance, epic songs, and vibrant dance numbers.

Conceived by Artistic Director Pravesh Kumar MBE, Frankie Goes to Bollywood follows the story of Frankie, an ordinary girl who unexpectedly finds herself thrust into the limelight of Bollywood stardom. As she climbs the sparkling staircase of fame, Frankie must confront the harsh realities of the industry and question what she is willing to sacrifice for success.

The musical’s score seamlessly blends traditional Bollywood music with the best of Western musical theatre, creating a unique and captivating soundscape. The production boasts a talented cast, including Laila Zaidi, Shakil Hussain, Helen K Wint, Gigi Zahir, and Katie Stasi, alongside acclaimed singer-songwriter Navin Kundra, who makes his theatrical debut.

Pravesh Kumar, the writer and director, expressed his excitement about the transfer, stating, “We have been blown away by the responses to the show – the pre-sales for our opening venue have been phenomenal to the point where Frankie has almost outsold presales for any other performance at Watford Palace Theatre. We are so excited to come to Southbank and continue meeting what is clearly pent-up demand for authentic South Asian theatre in the UK.”

With its dazzling costumes, sweeping sets, and a captivating storyline that explores the darker undercurrents of the Bollywood industry, Frankie Goes to Bollywood promises to be a must-see theatrical event. Don’t miss your chance to experience this extraordinary fusion of East and West on the iconic Southbank stage.
