The full cast and creative team have been revealed for the UK premiere of Ride the Cyclone, opening at Southwark Playhouse Elephant this November.
Written by Jacob Richmond and Brooke Maxwell, Ride the Cyclone will preview from Friday 14 November 2025, with an official opening night on Wednesday 19 November. The limited run continues until Saturday 10 January 2026.
The production has already broken Southwark Playhouse’s record for most tickets sold within a 24-hour period. Due to overwhelming demand, five additional performances have now been added.
Edward Wu (Kim’s Convenience, Riverside Studios) will star as The Amazing Karnak. Baylie Carson (Mean Girls, SIX) takes on the role of Ocean, while Grace Galloway (Priscilla The Party, Blood Brothers) plays Jane Doe.
Robyn Gilbertson makes her professional debut as Constance, alongside Damon Gould (Cabaret, Newsies) as Noel, Bartek Kraszewski as Mischa, and Jack Maverick as Ricky — all three also making their professional debuts.
The cast is completed by Nathaniel Purnell (Shucked, The Time Traveller’s Wife) and Rebecca D’Lacey (The Rocky Horror Picture Show).
Writers Jacob Richmond and Brooke Maxwell said:
“We are beyond thrilled that a musical, which began in the basement of a Ukrainian church in Victoria, Canada, has finally found its way to London, England, this fall! The exceptional team assembled for this production is truly remarkable, and we can’t wait for UK audiences to experience Ride the Cyclone!”
Ride the Cyclone is a darkly funny and wildly imaginative musical. After a freak rollercoaster accident claims the lives of six teens, they find themselves in limbo — offered one last chance to return to life.
The show had its world premiere in British Columbia in 2008, followed by an American premiere in Chicago in 2015 and an Off-Broadway run in 2016. It has since played in Seattle, Atlanta, Minneapolis, Sydney, and Buenos Aires.
The UK production will be directed and choreographed by Lizzi Gee, with musical direction by Ben McQuigg. Set and costume design is by Ryan Dawson Laight, lighting by Tim Deiling, video by Nina Dunn for PixelLux, and sound by Tom Marshall. Casting is by Harry Blumenau.
Production Management is by Toby P Darvill for Production Solutions Group, with General Management by Jack Maple Productions. The show is produced by Kevin McCollum, Morris Berchard and Jack Maple, and licensed by Broadway Licensing.
