The producers of the critically acclaimed musical parody Unfortunate: The Untold Story of Ursula the Sea Witch have announced the full cast for its upcoming run at The Other Palace, London. The show will play a strictly limited season from Friday 6 February to Sunday 5 April 2026.
Returning to the cast are Sam Buttery as Ursula, Allie Dart as Sebastian and others, Blair Robertson as King Triton and others, James Spence as Eric and others, and Freya McMahon as Ensemble.
Joining them is Julie Yammanee as Ariel, alongside ensemble members Jacob Whawell and Kelly Sweeney.
The 2026 transfer marks the musical’s fourth incarnation following two previous sold-out runs and a successful Christmas season. This new version promises a brand-new set and costumes, new jokes, new characters and a revised running time of 2 hours and 15 minutes including one interval.
Tickets are on sale now at theotherpalace.co.uk.
When Disney released The Little Mermaid in 1989, they had no idea they were creating an icon. Ursula the Sea Witch became a pop culture legend and a feminist icon: loud, clever, sexy and unapologetically plus-sized. A queer icon with a message for us all: love the skin you’re in, value your voice over your body, and don’t be afraid to be a little bit nasty.
Cruella told her side, and Maleficent had her moment. Now Ursula is ready to spill in this tell-all tale of sex, sorcery and suckers. Expect a laugh-a-minute dive through her backstory, a filthy pop soundtrack, beloved characters as you’ve never seen them before and enough eco-friendly glitter to keep you sparkling all the way home.
Unfortunate first premiered at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2019 before transferring to Birmingham Hippodrome’s Patrick Studio that Christmas. It later played Underbelly Earls Court and returned for a second sell-out Edinburgh run in 2022. The show enjoyed an 11-week run at Southwark Playhouse Elephant in 2023 and a six-month UK tour in 2024. A Swedish-language production recently completed a 12-week season at Östögtateatern.
The musical parody has book and lyrics by Robyn Grant and Daniel Foxx, music by Tim Gilvin and direction by Robyn Grant. The creative team also includes Jasmine Swan (set and costume design), Melody Sinclair-Marsh (choreography), Laura Cubitt (puppetry and movement), Nikki Davison and Joe Davison for Auburn Jam (orchestration and music production), Ian Dickinson for Autograph (sound design), Adam King (lighting design), and Mikayla Teodoro and Jasmine Swan (puppet design).
