HAM will premiere at Soho Theatre on 28 July 2026, ahead of a month-long run at Summerhall Arts during this year’s Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
Created by Hotter Project, the show is described as a “kinky eco-hijacking” of Shakespeare’s Hamlet, blending dark comedy with urgent questions about morality, consumption and climate collapse.
The story follows a grief-stricken vegan seeking revenge for the death of a pig, embarking on a chaotic journey that ultimately leads to staging a play as the ultimate act of vengeance.
Set against a backdrop of environmental crisis, the production explores themes of shame, responsibility and survival, asking audiences to confront the question of whether to eat or not to eat.
Hotter Project, the theatre-making duo of Mary Higgins and Ell Potter, bring their signature mix of verbatim theatre, clowning and cabaret to the piece.
“We are so psyched to be bringing our first ever adaptation to Edinburgh Fringe this year. Plus, a preview at Soho Theatre will be a chance for audiences to catch a rough and raw first look at the show before we travel to Edinburgh,” said Mary Higgins and Ell Potter.
“Hamlet – privileged and self-righteous as he is – makes the perfect annoying vegan. Audiences at the Fringe are electric so we hope HAM will encourage accountability and have you debating to eat or not to eat.”
The premiere marks the company’s return to the Fringe following previous productions including HOTTER, FITTER, and The Last Show Before We Die.
Following its Soho preview, HAM will run at Summerhall Arts’ Old Lab from 6 to 30 August as part of the 2026 Edinburgh Festival Fringe.
